Pre Game Lineup, Notes

It's Charlie Morton's turn to try to cool of the streaking Brewers. He allowed two homers in his last start, a rarity for Ground Chuck. He's 2-4 with a 4.57 ERA in nine career starts against Milwaukee, but went 2-0 with a 0.57 ERA in three starts against them last season. Kyle Lohse was roughed up by the Phils in his last outing, but has been effective against the Pirates, with a lifetime 9-2/3.88 slash in 19 starts.

The lineup: Starling Marte LF, Jose Tabata RF, Cutch CF, Pedro 3B, Neil Walker 2B, Tony Sanchez C, Travis Ishikawa 1B, Jordy Mercer SS and Morton P. JT and Tony the Tiger make the get-away day card. It doesn't look like the Pirates have much trust in Gaby against RHP, so the current "cookie cutter" platoon  looks like Ishi's to lose.

The game starts at 2:10 PM and will be aired by Root Sports (it's another Bucs & pucks day) and 93.7 The Fan.

  • Travis Snider has reached base in all nine games he has played.
  • The Brew Crew are noted for their bats, but here's why they're winning: Going back to last year, the Brewers have allowed 3 ER or fewer in frachise-record 25 straight games, tweeted Rob Biertempfel of the Tribune Review. The Brewers have allowed just 74 hits over 101 innings this season, and opponents are batting .204 against their staff.
  • Ex-Bucs: The Phillies said that AJ will miss at least a start with groin soreness and outrighted Brad Lincoln. Jose Veras has lost the closer's job in Chicago. Not a very good day for old Bucco pitchers.
