Thursday: Cole v Zimmerman, Lineup, Notes

Today: The getaway game begins at 12:35 at PNC Park, and will be on Root Sports and 93.7 The Fan.

Pitching: Gerrit Cole (0-1, 5.79) takes on Jordan Zimmerman (1-0, 0.00). Cole Train was quite rusty, especially in the opening frame, in his start against the Reds. Hopefully, the Tigers get him back on track. He was 1-0 with a 2.13 ERA in two starts against Detroit last season. Zimmerman shut out the Yanks in his first start. He's only pitched once at PNC Park, as a National, allowing four runs over six innings in a defeat in 2014.

Lineup: John Jaso 1B, Cutch CF, David Freese 3B, Starling Marte LF, Gregory Polanco RF, Josh Harrison 2B, Jordy Mercer SS, Stew C, Gerrit Cole P. Well, well ,well, lookie who's catching. Day game after night bill, of course, but Stew and Gerrit are an item again, at least today.

  • Kelsie Henneghan of MiLB has the story on Jameson Taillon's return to the mound after sitting out two years with injuries. He said he had his curve working and was hitting 94 on his heater. JT also got a mention in Baseball America's Prospect Report.
