Pitchers: Trevor Williams (1-1, 6.75) gets the call to butt heads with Brandon Finnegan (9-10, 4.04) in the nightcap. Trevor, 24, was lights out at Indy (9-6, 2.53) and got the nod over Drew Hutchison. Tonight will be his first MLB start, and hopefully the butterflies won't get the best of him. Williams' two outings in relief have been good and bad, with the bad one keyed by some soft knocks, iffy D and two walks. Unfortunately, it was against the Reds, so we'll see if he has some bounce-back in him. Finnegan worked five innings against the Bucs a week ago, and despite giving up five hits and five free passes, he put up a goose egg. In his last 10 IP, Finnegan has shown good stuff with 13 strikeouts but also shown an inner wild child, issuing nine walks. So he's a conundrum that way; batters need to be patient, but sitting on a two-strike count isn't where you want to be.

- RIP to WP Kinsella, who wrote "Shoeless Joe," later to become the movie "Field of Dreams." Here's James Earl Jones "People Will Come" soliloquy from the film.
- Of wild card race interest: The Mets have shut down Jacob deGrom for 2016, and he'll likely need ulnar nerve surgery.
