Pitchers: Chad Kuhl (4-3, 3.97) and Jimmy Nelson (8-14, 4.42) toe the rubber tonight. Chad was strong in his last outing after skipping a turn, and looks like he's back into his six innings/two runs groove. Cool Chad has faced the Brewers once this year in a match eventually won by the Bucs 3-2. Nelson is 2-7, 6.55 with a 1.82 WHIP in his last 11 starts, so it looks like a good time to be catching the righty. Traditional tough on the Pirates, he's squared off against Pittsburgh three times in 2016, with one so-so, one bad, and one good performance (1-0, 4.80). The good one was just a couple of weeks ago, though he did run through some raindrops, giving up four hits and six walks but just one run in 5-1/3 IP.

Lineup: Adam Frazier LF, Josh Bell 1B, Cutch CF, Gregory Polanco RF, David Freese 3B, Fran Cervelli C, S-Rod 2B, Jordy SS, Kuhl P. JHK gets a seat while it's 16 games in a row and counting for Starling.
- From @joe_block: Andrew McCutchen's numbers since the Atlanta series benching: 8 HR, 31 RBI, .283/.386/.476, 29 BB, 29 SO.
- Ryan Braun may miss the remainder of the series; he's home with his wife after the birth of his second child, son Greyson.
- There's a three-way tie for the two NL wildcard spots, with the Giants, Mets and Cards all at 80-71. The Marlins and Bucs are both four games behind them in the loss column.
