Bucs-Dodgers Rubber Match, Jamo v Santana & Notes

Today: The getaway game begins at 12:35 and will be on AT&T SportsNet and 93.7 The Fan as the Bucs see back-to-back MLB starting debuts from the Dodgers. With a quick turnover following last night's 20-run game, both bullpens may be tested this afternoon.

Pitchers: RHP Jameson Taillon (3-4, 3.97) closes the series out against RHP Dennis Santana (1-0, 12.27). Jamo scattered three hits over eight shutout innings in a 4-0 win over the Cards Friday, his first victory since April 8th. That's isn't indicative of his pitching lately, tho - JT has given up three earned runs or less in six of his last seven starts and in nine-of-12 overall. But LA has been hard on him; he's given up nine runs in nine IP in his two lifetime starts against them. This will be Santana's first MLB start. He made his big-league debut in relief Saturday at Coors Field and was rocked though he got the win; the Dodgers hope that outing chased his butterflies. The shortstop-turned-hurler slashed 1-3/2.54 in 10 starts between AA Tulsa and AAA Oklahoma City (two starts, 11 IP), with 65 strikeouts and 16 walks in 49-⅔ innings of work. He features a sinker (mid-90s), slider and change.

Lineup: J-Hay 2B, Gregory RF, Starling CF, J-Bell 1B, Corey D LF, Red Beard 3B, Eli C, Jordy SS & Jamo P. Jordy's back while Amore and AM are down; still, this is pretty solid for a getaway day lineup.

Notes:
  • Corey Dickerson is sixth among NL hitters with a .324 BA. He's batting .440 (11-for-25) during his current six-game hitting streak and has a .404 (19-for-47) average in his last 13 games, dating back to 5/23.
  • On the other side of the pillow, J-Bell Is hitless in his last 15 at bats and has gone 2-for-22 in his last seven games.
  • A win today would give the Bucs back-to-back victories for the first time since May 16-17th and their first series victory since sweeping the White Sox in a two-game set May 15-16th.
  • Following the game today, the Pirates hit the road for six days with a three-game series at Chicago starting tomorrow afternoon and three games in Arizona beginning Monday night.
