- Fran Cervelli wasn't under concussion protocol after taking a foul to the jaw but there is a league protocol to follow after a blow to the head. Cervelli went through workouts Monday and Tuesday and the team docs had to test him afterward, sending the results to both the MLB Commissioner's Office and the MLBPA, and they have to agree he's game-ready.
- We're still unclear about Gregory's hammy. We're not sure if the treatment Clint spoke of yesterday was just a continuation of his regular program or working out a minor aggravation. Either way, his home-to-first times yesterday were up to snuff, so it appears his hamstrings are fine as of now.
- The DL report: Enny Romero (shoulder impingement) is rehabbing at Bradenton, Ric Rod (shoulder) is throwing bullpens, and AJ Schugel (shoulder) still isn't tossing after receiving a PRP on May 24th.
- Jung-Ho Kang is 1-for-12 at Indy in three games, playing both third and short.
Jung-Ho is one big step away from returning to the show. |
- The Pirates have signed 19 draft picks, but the top three haven't officially joined the fold yet. Players signed from the first 10 rounds so far are (round, position, name, school, bonus, pool allotment) 4: RHP Aaron Shortridge, California, $475,000 ($488,200); 6: RHP Michael Flynn, Arizona, $250,000 ($275,600); 7: OF Brett Kinneman, N Carolina St, $215,500 (full value); 8: LHP Zach Spears, Miami of Ohio, $171,800 (full value); 9: RHP/OF Logan Stoelke, Louisiana @ Lafayette, U/K. Players selected after the 10th round are capped at $125,000 per man; anything over that amount is subtracted from the Top 10 pool money.
- The top three selections were OF Travis Swaggerty, RHP Braxton Ashcraft and RHP Gunnar Hoglund. Ashcraft and Hoglund were reported by hometown media to have agreement frameworks in place; no news on Swags agreeing on a deal yet.
