Dario v Zack Wheeler, Lineup & Notes

Game: The series opener is at 7:10 at Citi Field and will be carried by AT&T SportsNet & 93.7 The Fan.

Lineup: Corey Dickerson LF, Adam Frazier 2B, Starling Marte CF, Josh Bell 1B, Bryan Reynolds RF, Colin Moran 3B, Jung Ho Kang SS, Elias Diaz C, Dario Agrazal P. The order is shook up some as K-Man takes a seat for JHK tonight.

JHK gets a start against a RHP - 2016 Topps

Pitchers: RHP Dario Agrazal (2-0/2.25) opens the set against RHP Zack Wheeler (6-6/4.69). The heck with Dario's peripherals; the kid just spins strong outing after strong outing. His bubble will assuredly burst, if from nothing else than hanging around the rest of the rotation, but until then, enjoy the ride. Wheeler is coming off the IL (shoulder fatigue) for today's start, and there are expected to be scouts galore in the yard as he's said to be on the Mets "to go" menu. The lefty put together three pretty good starts before a beatdown landed him on the IL on July 7th. The Bucs couldn't solve him last year; in two starts, he served up goose eggs over 13 IP.

Notes:
  • Some good news: Noah Syndergaard and Jacob deGrom pitched leading into this series, so the Bucs will miss them in this set.
  • Alex McRae was called up to Pittsburgh yesterday, even though he was due to start for Indianapolis. The Tribe didn't have a Plan B available, so they went with an opener - OF JB Shuck, who tossed two innings of not exactly clean but scoreless baseball. It was his seventh outing of the year for Indy; he also tossed a goose egg while playing for the Pirates earlier in the year.
  • Bill Brink of the Post Gazette reported that the possible sale of AT&T SportsNet is the holdup in a new Pirates TV contract.
  • This is the start of a soft six-game road trip against the Mets, then three at Cincy. If the Bucs flounder, it's gonna be a long August...
  • Troy Tulowitzki hung up the spikes yesterday. In a bit of a surprise, he announced he was joining the coaching staff at the U of Texas.
