Jordan v Jon Lester, Lineup & Notes

Game: It's a 2:20 game and will be aired by AT&T SportsNet & 93.7 The Fan.

Lineup: Kevin Newman 2B, Bryan Reynolds LF, Starling Marte CF, Josh Bell 1B, Melky Cabrera RF, Jose Osuna 3B, Jung Kang SS, Eli Diaz C, Joe Musgrove P. It's Clint's "eliminate-the-lefties" lineup against Jon Lester.

Pitchers: RHP Jordan Lyles (5-5/4.36) meets LHP Jon Lester (8-6/3.72). The Cubs smacked Lyles around pretty well on the Fourth to the tune of seven runs and three homers in four frames. Jordan was shaky before being injured and hasn't found his groove in a while; in his last six starts, he's 1-5/8.16. Lester only has two IP against the Bucs this year; the workhorse left that April game with a hammy tweak. But he's seen Pittsburgh plenty. Jon is 9-6/3.12 in 19 career starts, and he's a bear at home this year with a 5-2/2.42 line at Wrigley.

Notes:
  • Fran Cervelli on Instagram "Saying that I quit from my catcher responsibilities is inaccurate. My hope is to catch again." So the saga continues as Clint confirmed to the beat gang that Cervy has never indicated that he wants to move from behind the plate.
  • Clint Hurdle is a win away from tying Chuck Tanner for fourth place on the Pirates’ all-time managerial wins list. Hurdle has 710 wins and is one of five managers to record more than 700 or more victories along with Tanner (711), Jim Leyland (851), Danny Murtaugh (1,115) and Hall of Famer Fred Clarke (1,422). Today would be a good day to get it...
