Big Joe v Jose Quintana, Lineup, Notes - Kramer Recalled As Newman Goes On IL

Game: The first pitch at Wrigley is due at 7:35, with the game on AT&T SportsNet, 93.7 The Fan and available out-of-market on MLB Network. The game time was moved up 30 minutes as scattered storms and strong winds (40-45 MPH) are forecast for the area, with the worst hitting between 10-11 PM.

Lineup: Adam Frazier 2B, Starling Marte CF, Fran Cervelli C, Josh Bell 1B, Jung Ho Kang 3B, Melky Cabrera RF, Pablo Reyes LF, Erik Gonzalez SS, Joe Musgrove P. Clint is keeping Pablo in the OF rotation, trying to help him settle in after a shaky start.

Pitchers: RHP Joe Musgrove ends the set against LHP Jose Quintana. Big Joe was sharp in his first outing - seven innings, no runs, three hits and eight K's v the Reds - and it'll be interesting to see how he fares against the heavier hitting Chicago nine. He was plenty good against them last year in two starts, going 14 IP with a 2-0/1.29 line. The Brew Crew beat Q up (seven innings, 10 runs, eight earned) in his first start, so he'll be looking for a little redemption. He didn't get a decision against the Pirates in a pair of 2018 starts, giving up three runs in 10 frames.

Notes:
  • Utility guy Kevin Kramer was called up from Indy as INF Kevin Newman went on the 10-day IL with a laceration on his right middle finger, retro to April 9th.
  • Archie will appeal his suspension; he's listed as Saturday's starter.
  • Injury report: Lonnie Chisenhall is hitting BP and playing catch; Corey D is batting, but still not throwing. Kyle Crick is tossing off flat ground and Jose Osuna should start getting into sim games next week.
  • John Dreker of Pirates Prospects reports that Korean SS Ji-Hwan Bae is moving up to Low-A Greensboro. The 19-year-old joins a pack of talented shortstops in the system, along w/Cole Tucker,  O'Neill Cruz and Stephen Alemais.
  • Forbes values the Pirates franchise at $1.275B; Chris Adamski of the Trib looks at the numbers.
