Jordan v Merrill Kelly, Lineup & Notes

Game: The game starts at 7:05 and will be on AT&T SportsNet and 93.7 The Fan.

Lineup: Adam Frazier 2B, Melky Cabrera RF, Colin Moran LF, Josh Bell 1B, Fran Cervelli C, Jungh Ho Kang 3B, Jason Martin CF, Cole Tucker SS, Jordan Lyles P. Quite the outfield Clint has tossed together; kinda curious why Gregory has the day off, especially with Bryan Reynolds out.

Pitchers: RHP Jordan Lyles (2-0/0.53) takes the bump v RHP Merrill Kelly (1-2/4.37). Jordan bruised his hand during his last start, but is back on the bump as MLB's ERA leader, having given up one run in 17 IP. He's gone against the D-Backs 19 times (nine starts) as an old NL West guy, and not had much success against them with a lifetime 2-6/7.23 line. Kelly is a reclamation arm, having spent the last four years tossing in Korea. He's a 30-year-old rookie and has never faced the Pirates.

Kinda making folks say "Ivan who...?" (photo Pittsburgh Pirates)
Notes:
  • It doesn't take a very deep dive to figure out why Clint keeps finding PT for Colin Moran. Redbeard has gone 9-for-17 (.529) and has produced 10 RBI while batting w/RISP on a team that regularly falters in the clutch.
  • Clint is hopeful that they caught Bryan Reynold's quad tweak in time to avoid a stint on the IL and can return to action after two or three days. Its severity is TBD, but the Buc bench will be short again while the medicos wait it out.
  • Arizona has won eight straight games at PNC Park.
  • S-Rod has been called up by the Phils.
