Lineup: Kevin Newman SS, Corey Dickerson LF, Starling Marte CF, Josh Bell 1B, Colin Moran 3B, Gregory Polanco RF, Adam Frazier 2B, Jake Stallings C, Chris Archer P. Reynolds' streaks ended yesterday, so he's getting a blow from Corey D, and it appears Jake has become Archie's personal caddy. So far, so good as a duo.
We suspect Jake isn't in the lineup for his stick tonight - photo Pittsburgh Pirates |
Pitchers: RHP Chris Archer (3-5/5.20) v RHP Mike Foltynewicz (1-5/5.89) in a rematch from PNC Park. Archie took it to the seventh before running out of gas against Atlanta on Thursday. He ceded a run in the six frames he tossed, giving up six hits, two walks, and fanning six. The last two games have been solid; Chris turning his season around would be a major plus to a team that's a few spokes short of a wheel right now. Foltynewicz lasted six innings and surrendered three runs in the 6-1 Bravo loss to Archie. He gave up two dingers, a season-long bug-a-boo; he's served up 15 long balls in just under 45 IP.
Notes:
- Dovy Neverauskas joined the team one more time today. He's faced 22 MLB batters so far in 2019; 12 have reached base via a knock, walk or bop. Alex McRae was optioned back to Indy. In one more bit of not-so-stunning news, Mitch Keller will start tomorrow.
- MLB Trade Rumors Jeff Todd discusses the Corey Dickerson/Melky Cabrera situation, noting both have drawn interest on the trade market.
- Adam Berry of MLB.com has the juicy tidbits from first-rounder Quinn Priester's first Pittsburgh press conference.
- BTW, Fangraphs had a piece on Jordan Luplow, who was sent to the Tribe as part of the SS Eric Gonzalez deal. Jordan is hitting just .248 w/.308 OBP, but with eight homers and a 113 wRC+.
