Mitch v Mike Soroka, Lineup & Notes

Game: First pitch is at 7:20, and the match will be carried by AT&T SportsNet & 93.7 The Fan. There's a chance for evening showers; what else is new?

Lineup: Kevin Newman SS, Corey Dickerson LF, Starling Marte CF, Josh Bell 1B, Melky Cabrera RF, Jung Ho Kang 3B, Adam Frazier 2B, Elias Diaz C, Mitch Keller P. Melky and JHK get a little time while Bryan, Gregory and Redbeard sit.

Pitchers: RHP Mitch Keller (0-1/13.50) takes on RHP Mike Soroka (7-1/1.38). The 23-year-old went through the first inning from hell in his debut, then settled down and tossed pretty solid ball for the next three rounds. The Bucs were iffy about bringing him back up, due to performance considerations, as he seems safely past Super Two now. But necessity calls...and it's a tough match for Keller. Soroka has been the Braves anchor; he's given up one/zero earned runs in nine of his 10 starts. This will be the 21-year-old's first effort against the Pirates. So if you like to see young guns at high noon (or high dusk, in this case), this is the game.

Notes:
  • Montana DuRapau had a short stay; he was optioned back to Indy to clear a spot for Mitch Keller.
  • The Pirates have lost five straight; the Braves have won five in a row.
  • Mark Feinsand of MLB.com lists 10 guys whose trade value has grown; Melky tops the list.
  • It goes on: Pablo Reyes left the Indy game today, favoring an ankle. 3B Ke’Bryan Hayes was placed on the 7-day MiLB IL with an right index finger injury suffered yesterday.
