Pitchers: RHP Joe Musgrove (4-6/4.40) v. RHP Julio Teheran (4-4/3.03). Big Joe's last outing was against the Bravos at PNC Park. He went eight innings before fading in the ninth, giving up three runs on five hits with six K in a 7-4 win. He tried to go Monday but was thrown out in the first inning after four batters; this would be his regular side session day. The game, btw, was slated to be Jordan Lyles' start before he landed on the IL. Teheran has been on fire; since May 5th, his ERA has been 0.70 (three earned runs in 38-2/3 IP) and Atlanta has won six of the seven starts he made during that span. Julio hasn't taken on Pittsburgh yet this year, but in 2018 he gave up just two runs on six hits over 14 frames in his two starts v the Bucs.

Notes:
  • Fraze is regaining his eye - he's hitting .297 in June; it may that he's just a misfit toy at the leadoff spot.
  • The Pirates travel to Miami for a three-gamer, have Monday off, and then entertain the Tigers at PNC Park.
  • Nick Burdi has begun throwing again on schedule, but he's still feeling the effects of his nerve injury.
  • Per MLB.com's Jim Callis, 16th-round pick C Eli Wilson of Minnesota signed a contract for $125K, his slot value.
