Archie v Dakota Hudson, Lineup & Notes

Game: The game starts at 8:15 at Busch Stadium and will be aired by AT&T SportsNet and 93.7 The Fan.

Lineup: Adam Frazier 2B, Bryan Reynolds RF, Starling Marte CF, Josh Bell 1B, José Osuna LF, Colin Moran 3B, Kevin Newman SS, Jake Stallings C, Chris Archer P. J-Bell's back, Joey O continues his corner position odyssey, and Jake's behind the dish, which is boding less and less well for Eli.

And it's Archie time - 2019 Bowman

Pitchers: Chris Archer (3-8/5.35) opens it up against RHP Dakota Hudson (10-6/3.99). Archie's been pretty much a lost soul this year. He was a quality start kinda pitcher in July (and only two of his five starts actually qualified for that low bar), then spun a nice game against the Mets last time out to kick off August. He went back-to-back against the Cards in mid-July, giving up seven runs in 12 IP with three long balls. Hudson has also struggled since July, tossing to a 5.70 ERA but with more support, going 4-2 over those six outings. He has a win, loss and save v Pittsburgh this year, surrendering six runs in 13 frames.

Notes:
  • Clay Holmes is with the team after pitching last night at Altoona; stay tuned for exactly what that means. Also, Mitch Keller is expected to join the team in LA and looks to be the scheduled starter on Monday or Tuesday.
  • The Pirates have lost five in a row and 21-of-25 since the break. Dejan Kovacevic looked up the Bucs worst all-time 25-game stretches in a free piece at DKPS. But misery loves company. The Cards have also dropped five straight and 8-of-10, scoring more than two runs twice in the stretch.
  • The Tigers activated J-Hay from the 60-day IL and released him today while in the middle of a rehab assignment. Harrison, 32, hit .176 with one home run and eight RBIs in 36 games during an injury-marred campaign.
  • You might want to give a listen to Pittsburgh historian John Schalcosky's Oddcast, aired by KDKA with Greg Brown as the guest, as they discuss the voices and history of Pirates broadcasting.
