Archie v Dillon Peters, Lineup & Notes - Jamo Has TJ Surgery

Game: The series conclusion begins at 8:07 and will be on AT&T SportsNet & 93.7 The Fan. And woooo...the Bucs are looking for a sweep.

Lineup: Kevin Newman SS, Bryan Reynolds LF, Starling Marte CF, Josh Bell 1B, Melky Cabrera RF, Elias Diaz C, Colin Moran 3B, Jake Stallings C, Adam Frazier 2B, Chris Archer P. Hmmm...Redbeard in against a lefty. Must mean Joey O began serving his suspension (he did). Fraze is also in today after three hits yesterday; no sense in sitting out a hot hand.

Pitchers: RHP Chris Archer (308/5.23) finishes the trip against LHP Dillon Peters (2-1/3.45). Archie is going for a third straight solid start, and more importantly, has lasted six innings in both outings. He's 6-1/2.20 against the Angels and has faced them once-per-year since 2013; he spun a 6-2/3 inning, two-hit shutout against them in 2018 while still with Tampa Bay. Peters is making his fourth start of the year and 15th in MLB. He beat the Bucs last year as a member of the Fish, giving up two runs in six innings on four hits.

Notes:
  • Keone Kela returns today from his suspension. As mentioned in the lineup, Joey O is starting his five days of sitting in the corner.
  • Let the good times roll - first, the Pirates broke an eight-game losing streak on Monday, then a nine-series losing streak yesterday. They haven't swept a series since late June against the Padres...just saying.
  • Jamo had his surgery yesterday, and yep, it ended up another TJ. He'll be lost for 2020. If it weren't for bad luck, JT would have no luck at all. And it does make you wonder what the docs were looking at for the past three months; he was even throwing (gently) in July, though it could be that conservative treatment was Taillon's choice. Either way, it's a pity at both a professional and personal level for a good guy.
  • Josh Bell is on a three-game homer streak, his career best.
  • Ben Clemens of Fangraphs looks at some Pirates numbers during The Streak, and they're not pretty unless you're playing them.
