Steven v Jon Lester; Lineup & Notes

Game: It's a 1:35 matinee and will be shown by AT&T SportsNet, MLB Network (out of market) & aired by 93.7 The Fan. It's Mr. Rogers cardigan sweater day for the first 20,000 fans. After the game, the two teams will bus to Williamsport for the Little League Classic.

Lineup: Kevin Newman 2B, Bryan Reynolds LF, Starling Marte CF, Josh Bell 1B, Melky Cabrera RF, Colin Moran 3B, Elias Diaz C, Erik Gonzalez SS, Steven Brault P. For those of you who thought Tuck's call up was the start of something, think again.

Pitchers: LHP Steven Brault (3-1/4.33) meets LHP Jon Lester (9-8/4.43). Steven's still working on getting back his strength after some time on the IL; this is his third start since being recalled. He hasn't faced Chicago since April and was banged for four runs in three frames. Lester has a 10.93 ERA in three August starts, so maybe that mojo will continue; a lot of workhorse guys get dead arms for a spell during the dog days. He's tossed against the Bucs twice this year, giving up three runs in 8-2/3 IP.

Notes:
  • The Cubs have lost six of their last seven games and are a game behind the Cards in the NL Central and one game up on the Brewers.
  • Joe Musgrove spoke to MLB.com's Adam Berry about a new direction for the Bucco clubhouse chemistry thing.
  • Tyler Glasnow hasn't given upon a return this season, per Connor Byrne of MLB Trade Rumors.
