Big Joe v Michael Wacha, Lineup & Notes - DuRapua, Holmes Called Up; Lyons DFA'ed

Game: Meet me in St. Louie... The game starts at 7:45 EDT at Busch Stadium, and will be on AT&T SportsNet and 93.7 The Fan. Out of market fans can catch the game on MLB Network.

Lineup: Adam Frazier 2B, Starling Marte CF, Gregory Polanco RF, Josh Bell 1B, Melky Cabrera LF, Fran Cervelli C, Colin Moran 3B, Cole Tucker SS, Joe Musgrove P. Always a challenge to make a lineup when neither your catchers nor third basemen are hitting.

Hopefully Big Joe can ride to the rescue tonight (photo Pittsburgh Pirates)

Pitchers: RHP Joe Musgrove (1-3/2.63) v Michael Wacha (2-0/5.17) opens the set. Big Joe's looking for a bonce back after a rough outing against Oakland. This is Joe's first 2019 outing v the Cards; he's 1-2/4.26 in three previous starts against the Redbirds. After the Texas series, the Bucs could use a deep outing from Musgrove. Wacha is still trying to get back into form after being recalled from the IL; he hasn't gotten past the fifth in the two starts since, and had some control issues. He's seen the Pirates plenty; Michael is 6-3/3.53 with 15 starts against them.

Notes:
  • For those keeping count, Kela Keone is the 18th Pirate to go on the IL this year; 10 are still on it. RHP Montana DuRapau was called up; the 27-year-old has a miniscule 0.63 ERA and 18 K in 14-1/3 IP at Indy. Additionally, RHP Clay Holmes returned to the Pirates. Tyler Lyons was DFA'ed, clearing a 40-man spot for DuRapua (he took Keone's spot on the 25-man) and active roster slot for Holmes. Montana will wear #64 & Clay #52.
  • Archie is due for a sim game tomorrow; no pitch count limit given.
  • William Leitch of MLB.com has 10 players who are raking but still missing on most fans' radar; J-Bell leads the pack.
  • John Dreker of Pirates Prospects notes all the moves within the system that the big club's musical chairs are causing.
  • Max Axisa of CBS Sports writes that Fran is not helping his cause during his walk year.
  • Jordy Mercer just came off the IL in Detroit; guess what? - he's back on it with the same injury, a quad strain.
