Jordan has a tough act to follow... (image Positively Pittsburgh) |
Pitchers: RHP Jordan Lyles (2-1/2.20) takes on RHP Miles Mikolas (4-2/4.02). Jordan has done the Pirate scouts proud so far; in six starts, he's given up more than two runs just once. Lyles is looking for his first win against the Cards - he's 0-3/4.91 in nine lifetime appearances (four starts). Mikolas is rounding into shape; he was strong in his last outing (seven goose eggs) and has rediscovered his hook. He's already faced the Bucs, getting a no-decision after giving up three runs on seven hits in five frames in early April.
Notes:
- J-Bell is on a 10-game hitting streak.
- This is prob a good time for the Pirates, as short-handed as they may be, to catch the Cards, as the Redbirds have lost seven of their last nine games.
- Last night was the second time this year (and fourth time in his career) that Fraze opened a game with a home run.
- Baseball America has a piece on the hot spots in the Dominican Republic for ballplayers; the Pirates currently have more Dominicans throughout their system than any other MLB organization.
- Tyler Glasnow has been diagnosed with a "mild" forearm sprain and is expected to miss 4-6 weeks.
