Jordan Lyles v Frankie Montas, Lineup & Notes

Game: The game begins at 1:35 and is Kid's Day at the Park. The contest will be aired by AT&T SportsNet and 93.7 The Fan. The kiddies also get a water bottle. Don't let the weather stop you - it should be gray and humid but not rainy; plan your drive to the park to allow for the Marathon folk.

Lineup: Adam Frazier 2B, Starling Marte CF, Gregory Polanco RF, Josh Bell 1B, Melky Cabrera LF, Colin Moran 3B, Elias Diaz C, Cole Tucker SS, Jordan Lyles P. Cervy gets an expected day off and Bryan Reynolds is the odd man out in today's OF rotation.

Pitchers: RHP Jordan Lyles (2-1/2.42) finishes the set against RHP Frankie Montas (4-2/2.97) in the series decider. Lyles has been a pleasant surprise for the Bucs; he struggled against the Rangers last time out with command, tossing 96 pitches in four frames, but still held Texas to a pair of runs. Jordan has one start against Oakland and pretty well shut them down, but that was way back in 2013. Montas' FIP is a full run higher than his ERA, so we'll see if he's one of those guys that outperforms his stats. This will be his first outing against the Pirates.

Notes:
  • The Pirates have Monday off, then entertain the Rangers for two games before hitting the road on a tough 11-game trip against the Cards, Snakes and Friars.
  • Archie is eligible to come off the IL Monday, but he's not ready to throw yet. That date is yet TBD for the short Bucco staff. Steven Brault and Nick Kingham are slated to go against the Rangers. They have 21-2/3 IP tossed together during the season so far with no starts, though both have started in the past. Steven's longest outing has been three innings/74 pitches in four games, while The King's high has been two innings/30 pitches in eight appearances. Wonder who the long men in the pen will be during their starts?
  • The Indians have DFA'ed IF Max Moroff, who was part of the Eric Gonzalez deal.
