Lineup: Adam Frazier 2B, Starling Marte CF, Melky Cabrera RF, Josh Bell 1B, Bryan Reynolds LF, Colin Moran 3B, Fran Cervelli C, Cole Tucker SS, Trevor Williams P. Gregory had a homer and two doubles last night, so he gets a seat tonight. Go figure; we're guessing they have him on a predetermined post-recovery sked.
Willy tries to right the ship tonight (photo Pittsburgh Pirates) |
Pitchers: RHP Trevor Williams (1-1/3.74) vs. RHP Adam Wainwright (3-3/4.71). Willy has come back to earth with back-to-back shaky efforts, but he overcame a bad first inning in his last outing to keep the Bucs hanging around in an eventual win over Oakland. He's faced the Cards six times and is 3-3/4.94, so he's not had much luck against SL. But he has gone at least six innings in every start this year, and boy, the Pirates could stand that from a starter about now. Wainwright has evolved into a workhorse-type of tosser; he's had three iffy starts and four excellent ones so far this year; the Bucs chased him after four innings back on April 1st. Overall, he's faced Pittsburgh about a million times and is 13-7/4.45 in his career.
Notes:
- J-Bell comes into tonight with a nine-game hitting streak.
