Pitchers: RHP Joe Musgrove (0-2, 4.76) takes on RHP Jose Berrios (0-1, 7.00). Big Joe has been fanning batters like a champ with 15 K in 11-1/3 IP, but hasn't been able to keep the ball in park, giving up four long taters. He hasn't seen the Twins since 2017, when he gave up four runs in five innings. Berrios was blistered in his opener, then settled down in his second start, although he burned through a lot of pitches, so a little discipline should be the key. He's been an All-Star the past two seasons, although his one outing against the Bucs wasn't very noteworthy as he was chased in the fourth.
Notes:
- Pittsburgh hasn't scored behind Big Joe in his first two starts.
- The Pirates have yet to have a starter get through the sixth inning. We're kinda wondering what Shelty is gonna do when the rosters shrink to 28 later in the week...
- Chad Kuhl is on the heal and not expected to miss any time as Steven Brault's caddy.
