Pitchers: LHP Derek Holland (0-0, 3.18) v LHP Lewis Thorpe (0-0, 0.00). Dutch Oven was solid against the Brew Crew in his last outing, lasting 5-2/3 IP and giving up two hits (one homer) and three walks. He hasn't seen the Twins since 2017, but they've hit him pretty well with a 3-7/5.56 slash. Thorpe has worked out of the pen so far this campaign; this will be his third MLB start tonight.
Notes:
- This is the first game off for Colin Moran and Adam Frazier. Both had started all nine prior games. Shelty gives everyone a look; 13 of the 14 players on the positional roster have appeared in at least five of the Bucs 10 games (John Ryan Murphy, backup catcher, has been in four).
- It's homecoming for Derek Shelton; he was Minnesota's bench coach from 2018-19 before coming over to Pittsburgh.
- The Cards trip to Detroit is off; they reportedly have seven players to date who have tested positive for Covid 19.
