Game: The game starts at 3:15 at Busch Stadium; it's the first of two makeups with the Cards. It will be broadcast by AT&T SportsNet and 93.7 The Fan. Warning: it's a pair of seven-inning matches, per the 2020 MLB work rules.
Lineup: Erik Gonzalez SS, Cole Tucker CF, Kevin Newman 2B, Josh Bell DH, Bryan Reynolds LF, Jake Stallings C, Gregory Polanco RF, Jose Osuna 3B, Will Craig 1B and Chad Kuhl P. Newman's back (at second; Fraze is sitting) and Craig is getting his first MLB start.
Pitchers: RHP Chad Kuhl (1-1, 2.84) v LHP Kwang Hyun Kim (1-0, 1.69). Chad has been pretty solid in his three starts and is slowly stretching it out. As a result, the 27-year-old is rumored to be on the trading block, so it'll be interesting to see if he's considered one of the building pieces for the Cherington Bucs or available for the right price. Whip has already met the Redbirds seven times as a starter (last in 2018) and is 1-2/3.86 against them. Kim has two starts under his belt; the Korean pond-jumper was solid in his last outing. His debut was against the Buccos from the pen; he went an inning and gave up two runs (one earned) on two hits in late July.

- Well, hokay - The Pirates placed RHP Keone Kela on the 10-day injured list (retro to 8/24) and IF Colin Moran on the 7-day concussion IL. They recalled RHP Nick Mears and 1B Will Craig; both will be available for today's games. Craig has power but contact issues (51 HR in 449 games; .259 BA and high K/walk rates) with an outstanding glove while Nick has gotten a taste this year; seven walks in 3-1/3 IP haven't helped his cause. Cody Ponce is the extra man called up for the doubleheader; he'll make his first MLB start in the nightcap.
- Following the lead of the NBA/WNBA, the Milwaukee Brewers decided not to play their game against the Cincinnati Reds last night. The Seattle Mariners, the roster with the league's highest number of Black players, also said it would not play against the San Diego Padres. The San Francisco Giants and LA Dodgers went back-and-forth until they finally postponed their match. The schedule looks like it's back on track today.
