Sunday: JT Brubaker v Trevor Williams In Rubber Match

Today's Game: The game starts at 1:05 and is on AT&T SportsNet, MLB Network (out of market) & 93.7 The Fan; winner takes the series. The Pirates continue to hand out their magnetic schedule/facemask swag.

Lineup: Adam Frazier 2B; Phil Evans 3B; Bryan Reynolds; Colin Moran 1B; Kevin Newman SS; Gregory  Polanco RF; Jake Stallings C;; Dustin Fowler CF; JT Brubaker P. Pretty much the regular lineup, odd for a Sunday; even Jake is back in action after a night game.

Pitchers: RHP JT Brubaker (0-0/2.25) toes the slab against ol' Bucco RHP Trevor Williams (1-0/3.00). Bru went four innings against the Reds, giving up a run and fanning six in a promising start, but he also walked four and burned through 82 pitches, so his efficiency has to tighten up. Willy spent five years as a Bucco but made some Windy City friends with a strong six-inning stint in defeating the Brew Crew in his Cubbie debut.

Notes:

  • RHP Tyler Bashlor has cleared waivers and was assigned to the alt training camp.
  • The Cubs have lost 3-of-4 and have offensive woes of their own - they haven't scored more than five runs in any game yet this season and plated only eight runs total in the past four matches.
  • Joanne Klimovich Harrop of the Trib features our favorite arrgh-mada of Buccaneer boosters, the Renegades of the Rotunda.

Tomorrow's Game: The San Diego Padres are the first out-of-division foe for the Pirates, and yah, they'll bring some pitching - Yu Darvish tomorrow, followed by Blake Snell and Big Joe Musgrove, with Thursdays twirler TBD. They'll open the four-game set at 6:35 with the contest on AT&T SportsNet & 93.7 The Fan, with the Bucco starter TBD.
