Wednesday: Tyler Anderson v Big Joe

Today's Game: First pitch is scheduled for 6:35, with the game aired by AT&T SportsNet & 93.7 The Fan.

Lineup: Adam Frazier 2B; Phil Evans 3B; Bryan Reynolds LF; Colin Moran 1B; Kevin Newman SS; Gregory Polanco RF; Dustin Fowler CF; Michael Perez C; Tyler Anderson P. Jake Stallings gets a well-deserved day off and we'll get to see if a couple of days in the cage helped El Coffee's swing any.

Gregory is back in the lineup - 2018 Topps Fire

Pitchers: LHP Tyler Anderson battles RHP Joe Musgrove (2-0/0.00). Tyler's been workmanlike in his first two outings and may have to step it up a level tonight. He did work in the West, so he's no stranger to San Diego. He's done pretty well against them, too, with a 3-2/2.61 line in eight starts (nine outings). Joe has faced his old mateys just once, back in 2016, and was beat up pretty well that rookie appearance, but has yet to give up a run this year and has surrendered only three hits in 15 IP with a no-no to his credit.

Notes:
  • Ke'Bryan Hayes hit yesterday and today (soft toss) with no issues. There is still no timetable for his return other than definitely not during the last two games of this series.
  • The indie Atlantic League, in partnership with MLB, will implement a DH for the starting pitcher only (when the starter is yanked, so is the DH) and moving the rubber back a foot, to go along with its already existing ball & strikes robo-ump. The new rule experiments are meant to soften the DH impact on the NL, at least in the late innings, and get more balls put into play.
Tomorrow's Game: The four-game series ends with a 12:35 getaway day match between Mitch Keller and Chris Paddack that will be on AT&T SportsNet & 93.7 The Fan. Pittsburgh then begins a nine-day road trip with visits to Milwaukee, Detroit and Minnesota for three-game sets.

I hate the DH. Hate it. The End.
