Tuesday: KC Comes To Town, Tyler Anderson v Jakob Junis Open Two-Game Set; Tom Reports, Castro Sent Down

Today's Game: The game starts at 6:35 and will be aired by AT&T SportsNet PITT2 & 93.7 The Fan. And don't sleep on KC; at 14-7, they have the best mark in the AL. And hey, it's gonna be a great night for baseball with temps in the 70's, so...

Lineup: Adam Frazier 2B; Phil Evans LF; Bryan Reynolds CF; Colin Moran 1B; Erik Gonzalez 3B; Jake Stallings C; Gregory Polanco RF; Kevin Newman SS; Tyler Anderson P. The usual suspects...

Pitchers: LHP Tyler Anderson (2-2/3.92) opens against RHP Jakob Junis (1-0/3.01). Anderson was brought in to be a steady inning-eater and been just that so far as the southpaw has gone at least five innings with no more than three runs allowed in any of his four starts this season. This is the first time the 31-year-old has met the Royals. Junis was a rotation back ender in 2018-19 with over 60 starts, 350 IP and 18 wins, but Covid and a bad back laid him low for most of last year. After being on the bubble to start this season, he's gotten off to a solid start to reclaim a spot. This will be his first outing against the Pirates.

Notes:

  • As expected, OF Ka'ai Tom has joined the team and IF Rodolfo Castro has been sent back to the alt camp.
  • Tyler Anderson and JT Brubaker are the only two Pirates starters who average 5+ IP per start in the early going.
  • Head on: Pittsburgh has won 10 of its last 15 games while KC has won 10 of its last 13 contests.

Tomorrow's Game: The turnaround game will start at 6:35 and will be carried by AT&T SportsNet & 93.7 The Fan.
