Today's Game: The match starts at 6:35 and will be on AT&T SportsNet & 93.7 The Fan. Unlike last night, it should be a grand spring evening for a ballgame.
Lineup: Kevin Newman SS; Wilmer Difo CF; Bryan Reynolds LF; Phil Evans 1B; Jake Stallings C; Eric Gonzalez 3B; Adam Frazier 2B; Tony Alford RF; Chad Kuhl P. Can't say it's a gold glove collective, but then again every Pirates RH hitter is in the lineup against southpaw Blake Snell.
Maybe leadoff will get K-Man's motor runnin' - Topps 2020 |
Pitchers: RHP Chad Kuhl (0-1/6.43) has a tough row to hoe against LHP Blake Snell (0-0/1.86). Kuhl is building up his arm strength after missing time in the spring. The Reds thumped him in the first inning of his last outing, then he settled in, so hopefully those later innings will be the start of a trend. He's made three starts against the Friars, the last in 2018, with a slash of 1-0/4.60. Snell has piled up 16 punch outs with six walks in 9-2/3 IP (he's been working around 85 pitches/five innings in his first pair of starts, as K's & BB's zoom the pitch count). He's only faced Pittsburgh once, getting his cage rattled in a 6-2 loss in 2017, with five walks in five innings leading to his downfall.
Notes:
- This is Colin Moran's first day off; he had started all 10 of the previous contests.
- Gregory Polanco has had two consecutive off days; he's spent them working in the batting cage.
- No definite word on Ke'Bryan Hayes coming off the IL tomorrow, but he hasn't swung a bat since his injury, so don't hold your breath.
Tomorrow's Game: The game will start at 6:35 and be carried by AT&T SportsNet & 93. 7 The Fan. Tyler Anderson faces the man of the hour, Big Joe Musgrove.
