Big Joe v Kyle Hendricks, Lineup & Notes, More Moves, Injury Report

Game: The contest starts at 7:05 and will be aired by AT&T SportsNet & 93.7 The Fan.

Lineup: Cole Tucker CF, Adam Frazier 2B, Kevin Newman SS, Josh Bell DH, Colin Moran 1B, KeBryan Hayes 3B, Gregory Polanco RF, Anthony Alford LF, Jake Stallings C and Joe Musgrove P. It'll be kinda dizzying to see how Shelty mixes and matches lineups now.

Pitchers: RHP Joe Musgrove (0-3, 6.75) goes against RHP Kyle Hendricks (3-4/4.09) in the middle match. Big Joe has missed three weeks with tricep inflammation and so this outing may end up a bullpen start. In his three starts, Musgrove has lasted 14-2/3 IP, giving up 15 hits (four homers), 11 walks and 17 K. We'll see if he can harness his stuff over the season's last month or so. He survived this trade deadline; the offseason is yet TBD. Hendricks has taken his lumps during his past three starts, giving up five dingers in 17-2/3 IP. This is his first outing against the Bucs this year, and in 17 career appearances, he's 5-7/3.17 against Pittsburgh.

Notes:

  • Joe Musgrove and Bryan Reynolds have been returned to the active roster. José Osuna has been optioned back to Altoona and Carson Fulmer has been DFA'ed.
  • The injury list: Mitch Keller is due to throw live BP (so is Jamo, tho he's obviously not returning this year; Mitch might), and Keone Kela & Yacksel Rio are tossing off flat ground. Southpaw Austin Davis, recently claimed, is on the IL as part of the Pirates screening protocol (no, medico Todd Tomczyk was no more specific than that).
  • The Pirates will celebrate Roberto Clemente on Wednesday, September 9th, in a game at PNC v the White Sox by having all their players wear #21. Very cool and very overdue.
