Jeff Locke v Taylor Jungmann; Shook-Up Lineup & Notes

Jeff Locke (5-5, 4.03) closes the series against Taylor Jungmann (4-1, 2.15). Jeff has been on a nice little roll lately, holding up his end of the bottom of the rotation. He's been pretty effective against the Brewers, winning a pair of 6-2 games against Milwaukee so far this season. Overall, Jeff is 4-2/3.46 in nine career starts against the Brew Crew.

Jungmann made his debut against the Buccos last month, and it was a good one. The 2011 first-round draft pick allowed three hits and one run over seven innings, with one walk, five strikeouts and 13 batters retired in a row as the Pirates were aggressive (ie, swinging at everything) chasing his pitches. He features a funky delivery, throwing across his body, so unfamiliarity with that style may be feeding into his early success. The game begins at 2:10 and will be aired by Root Sports and 93.7 The Fan.

Today's Lineup - Gregory Polanco RF, Neil Walker 2B, Starling Marte CF, Jung-Ho Kang 3B, Travis Ishikawa 1B, Fran Cervelli C, Jaff Decker LF, Jordy Mercer SS, Locke LHP.

Pretty shook up; Cutch was scheduled for a day off; Pedro we guess earned one.

  • Funny how this seems to happen all the time, but Gorkys Hernandez was found to have a bum shoulder and was placed on the 15 day DL just when the Bucs needed another pitcher. Wilfredo Boscan was called back up.
  • Tomorrow night the Pirates will visit Kauffman Stadium for the first time since 2006 when the team makes its final stop of this six-game road trip
