Friday: Locke v Nelson as Brew Crew Comes To Town, Lineup, Notes

Today: First pitch for the opener of a three-gamer against Milwaukee is at 7:35, and the game is on Root Sports and 93.7 The Fan. Tonight is also Jackie Robinson Nite at the ballyard.

Pitchers: Jeff Locke  (0-0, 1.50) takes on Jimmy Nelson (1-1, 2.70). Jeff was 3-2/3.45 against Milwaukee last season in five outings. Nelson, 26, was a workhorse for the Brew Crew in 2015, and had the Bucs' number, going 4-2/2.48 against them.

Lineup: John Jaso 1B, Cutch CF, David Freese 3B, Starling Marte LF, Fran Cervelli C, Gregory Polanco RF, Josh Harrison 2B, Jordy Mercer SS, Locke P. Clint's lineup has pretty much been etched in stone this month.

  • The Pirates easily lead the league in stranded runners with 88 in ten games. Trend or law of averages being coy?
  • Jim Leyland will coach Team USA next year, per @jonmorosi. A second tweet added that Leyland named Jeff Jones, Marcel Lachemann, Lloyd McClendon, Willie Randolph, and Alan Trammell; Legendary Lloyd and Willie also have Pittsburgh connections.
  • RHP Scott McGough of Plum HS was DFA'ed by the Marlins. The Orioles claimed him and sent Scott to AAA Norfolk.
